Back the bid to save Guyana Rainforest

Vast areas of rainforest in some of the world%u2019s poorest countries are disappearing, being sold off to logging contactors for cash.

At the moment, our government is looking into backing an offer by the President of Guyana to preserve the country's entire 50 million acres of rainforest in return for sustainable development funds.

A recent quote from Phil Woolas, the Environment minister reads "The UK Government sees this as a significant and welcome step. While we respect countries' sovereignty, the offer from President Jagdeo is a groundbreaker and we will be looking at it at official level to see what part Britain can play,"

Below is a link to a petition set up in order to try to get the message across that we need to preserve the vast majority of Earths depleting rainforests by providing government and private sector funding to poor countries in return for %u2018carbon credits%u2019.
