Free Gyalseng and Nima Wangchuk

Two Tibetans from Sog County in Nagchu prefecture have been sentenced to three years%u2019 imprisonment by a chinese court recently, according to Ngawang Tharpa, a Tibetan from Nagchu now living in exile here.

Gyalseng; 25, and Nima Wangchuk; 24, were among the four Tibetans arrested on October 1, 2009, the day china celebrated the 60th founding anniversary of the communist party, for posting the exile Tibetan leader Dalai Lama%u2019s pictures and speeches on their profiles on the famous Chinese chat site qq.com. Yeshi Namkha; 25, and Aniy  are not yet sentenced. Their family members and relatives, who were not allowed to visit them, fear the two had been subjected to immense torture and beatings in prison.

The four Tibetans were picked up by police from their village named Rada  on china%u2019s national day that was celebrated under intense security and military presence. The four men were also alleged to have contacts with what the authorities described as %u201Cforeign separatist forces%u201D.

china feared that the Tibetans might take the opportunity of the October 1 celebrations to protest the government and imposed strict monitoring on movement of people and communications in various Tibetan areas days ahead of the celebrations.

Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Thupten, a monk from Sog County who was arrested from Lhasa around the same time, is not known.
Also, Tenzin Sherap, 15; Ngawang Lodoe, 17; Tsuiltrim Tendar, 21; Chambu Drudub, 52; Chokden Tsuiltrim, 19; and Sonam Gyalpo, all of whom were arrested in Sog County in connection with the protests across Tibet last year are yet to be sentenced. Family members and relatives of these Tibetans have expressed fear since there have been no news about their location and wellbeing. %u201CThey doubt if these Tibetans are even alive,%u201D said Ngawang.
