We the undersigned, are very worried about the situation in the Persian Gulf.The US is waging a hazardous war of slander and destabilization against Iran taking against it arbitrary measures like spying, sabotage, assassinations, military threats and pressure, sanctions, unproved false claims that Iran possesses nuclear arms. Washington seems to be doing everything possible to increase tension with Tehran. This unwise policy could be a prelude to an unjustified armed aggression against Iran causing horrible suffering, chaos and destruction in this country as well as creating high risks of a disastrous world war. President Obama must put an end to the ongoing insanity and prevent the eruption of a war which will be to the advantage of nobody else but the arms merchants.He must try to solve any differences between the US and Iran through the normal channels of talks and negotiations. Negotiations and global disarmament can protect US national security more effectively than any drones, bombs and rockets. It is high time Washington renounced warfare as a means of obtaining its goals, showed more respect for the value of human lives and committed itself to the cause of maintaining stable peace in the world. Serving peace, not war, makes a great nation.
