Napier Student’s Association is currently governed by a Constitution that was written more than ten years ago. Ten years ago Napier University, had just over 3,500 students, fast forward ten years and Edinburgh Napier University has over 15,000 students, a portfolio of innovative degree courses and up to date buildings – equipped for the Twenty-First Century.
A Napier Student’s Association which has stayed in the past is not a Student’s Association for the current students of Edinburgh Napier University.
The current Constitution is inefficient because the structures are designed to aid a student body of 3,500 – not the current student body of 15,000.
The current Constitution is ineffective because campaigns lack the cutting edge and are always reactive to issues that matter.
We proposed a change, and were told No. We want you to sign this petition to give you the right to discuss and vote for change. Change that will better the Association and most importantly your student experience.
We proposed a change which would bring the Association in to the Twenty First Century, that would scrap the ineffective procedures and maximize the representation structures within Napier Student’s Association.
We proposed a new constitution, and after having fully researched, evaluated and consulted on all the options open to us, we finally have a document which is fit for purpose, a document that will be the back bone of and the stepping stone to a new and refreshed Napier Student’ Association.
We proposed, and we were told we would not be given the opportunity to discuss or vote for change. We urge you to sign this petition to demand your right for discussion and your right to vote on matters of an Association which you are a member of.
