Re-open Animal Friends Summer Camp in Cataumet, MA

Dear Mr. Bowen,

We the undersigned support the re-opening of the Animal Friends Summer Camp in Cataumet. 

The Animal Friends Summer camp reflects simple core values and provides a wonderful environment for children to learn, compete and make friends.  it is an important part of our Cape Cod community, one that has been treasured for over 60 years.  As stated in your positioning, "a fundamental premise of the humane community is that if a child is taught to be kinds to animals, there is a greater likelihood that the individual will mature into a person who respects not only humanity, but also all living things." Isn't it important that ALL children are given this opportunity regardless of where they live or if there is violence in their community?  Wasn't it Anna Harris Smith's intention to include as many children as possible? 

I understand that in these desperate economic times that the re-opening of the camp has dropped to a very low priority and resources are scarce.  However, I also understand that there is a community of people that are willing to donate their time and help in whatever way they can.  These signatures represent a large community that want to save the camp.  Thank you for your consideration.
