SAVE SNELLVILLE'S LIBRARY
On September 22, 2009 the Gwinnett County Library Board approved transforming the Snellville Library into a computer lab with no books on site. The Board also approved reducing the hours of operation of the Library to no more than 35 hours a week. The Library is a cornerstone of of society. Snellville's Library plays an important role in our community and in the education of our children. The Snellville Library is located within 3 miles of 5 schools 3 of which have been classified as Title I. Therefore, the Library provides necessary resources for children who may not be able to go to the bookstore and buy a book. Plus, there are already so few places where children can go and be productive and too much time is already spent in front of a computer, TV or video game, our children need books. Computer labs cannot replace the experience and knowledge gained from having access to actual books. As concerned citizens of the community we are determined to protect our Library and to ensure it remains a place where children can continue to learn after school. Please sign our petition to let the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and the Snellville City Council know we the citizens oppose the virtual closing of the Library.
