Improved Traffic Safety for 140th and County Road G

On October 11 of 2017, a 16-year-old junior here at NRHS died when she collided with a semi-truck on her way home from school. She was passing through the intersection combining 140th and County Road G when a semi struck the driver side of her car and killed her.

Megan is loved by many, and to prevent another tragedy like this from happening to another beautiful soul, my fellow students and I want a roundabout installed in place of the intersection. With hills from both sides, and corn fields surrounding, the view is obstructed.

Additionally, the speed limit of 140th is 45 mph and County road G is 55 mph with only one stop sign separating the two streets. Roundabouts prevent T-Bones and head-on collisions and it is not uncommon to see roundabouts replace dangerous intersections.

When the new high school opening in 2010, it altered the driving patterns of many young, inexperienced drivers getting to and from their school everyday, creating the need for the town to reevaluate the safety of our roads. So sign this petition for a roundabout to be installed where 140th and County Road G intersect for the safety of everyone in our town.
