Griffin High School is a school in the city of Griffin Spalding County.
Parents at Griffin High School make extraordinary efforts to support the school through fundraising, volunteering, and event organization and attendance. Mr.Evans has not supported these efforts and continues to antagonize parents with last-minute decisions that go against the best interests of the students and GHS traditions.
His behavior undermines the school community in additional ways. He did not not acknowledge the death of a student or support (as has been done for years) but instead made students turn their emotions to the side and shut them down, especially some of the Griffin High School walkout and Vigil. He frequently responds to individual parent's concerns with form emails, and the information in those emails often does not agree with the facts. Finally, instead of partnering with GHS outstanding and experienced teachers, he has subjected them to increased monitoring and formal "warnings" while providing little information about the direction he wants to take the school. Teacher morale is suffering, and the students suffer as a result. This principal has threatened the students of Griffin High School students that participated in the walk out to be suspended or not able to graduate just for standing up for what was what was right. The students have the freedom of speech and protest take him out of office.
We ask that as a community of people who encourage others and help others that we please help our students have a better principal. Who will support them guide them in the right path and would do the same for the school.
