Establish animal cruelty laws in Mississippi
Our youth group has realized that there is way too much animal cruelty in America. We also noticed that in our home state, Mississippi, most types of animal cruelty are only a misdemeanor, instead of being a felony. This lets cruel animal abusers get off with a small fine! We intend to change that!
We, the signers of this Petition, are asking that you change the existing law relating to acts of cruelty to animals from a misdomeaner to a felony and to incresase the penalities relating to violation of this law. The animals that this law would protect cannot speak for themselves and we ask that you help to protect them.
Dear Honorable Margaret Ellis Rogers,
Our Youth Group has decided to support the passing of a law in the State of Mississippi to have the crime of cruelty to animals to be prosecuted as a felony instead of as a misdeamor as it is now prosecuted. We are also supporting the stregthening of the penalitys relating to this crime. We are sponsoring this Petition Drive in order to publicise this issue. We are asking that you lend your full support to this cause.
Without the support of leaders like yourself, these defenseless animals will not recieve the protection they deserve.
