Wild bears are constantly taken out of the wild for an inhuman reason - to be farmed for their bile. Less than sixty percent of the bears that are taken will survive the torture of having an open wound in their bellies so that bile can be drained twice per day. The Chinese believe that the bile from a bear is a good medicine, but who knows if it works. There are other cures out there, but harming and killing bears is not one of them. Sign this petition to let China know that the legal farming and surgery of bears is not only inhumane, but it is painful to the bears, and can eventually this endangered species to become extinct.

We understand that your people have a long - time tradition of cutting open a bear's abdomen in order to farm their bile for medicinal reasons. However, that is not humane in any way. The surgery, without even having moderate pain reducing drugs to give the animal. Plus, the wound should be closed after one time - it should never be a constantly open wound. Not only is it unsanitary, but along with the pain, the bears could get sick.
You may say that there are enough bears for this, but there is not. Bears are an endangered species, and they deserve to be taken care of as one. Plus, any animal does not deserve to live through this kind of pain, no matter what. In truth, there are other alternatives to this Chinese medicine that you are using the bile for. Even so, the bile is also used for human purposes that include shampoo, or tea. That, in fact, should never be done. There are other teas, and other shampoos that you could use.
Things need to be done, and people need to make it happen. We the undersigned happen to be some of these people. In fact, you should outlaw this practice. Any living creature deserves to live a happy life. A life of confinement and torture is obviously not happy. Just take a look at what you are doing to the bears. Would you want that done to you? We all share this Earth, and bears are just as alive as humans are. You need to stop the violence.
