Justice for Ruger. Put animal abusers and animal murders a way

I am in shock after seeing all the pictures and the story of what happen to this beautiful German Shepard. And the pain this family is feeling to lose their baby to such evil cruelty. A family lost their pet to the hands of a neighbor that took a aluminum baseball bat and beat the skull in of a puppy. Beat this puppy's head in so hard he lost his eye. This is disturbing to know a human being could go this far and do such a sickening thing. And not go a different route as in getting the dogs owner to come get their dog out of his yard. From the news I've read on this story Ruger was in his own back yard when Mr. Miller's chicken came into rugers yard. Mr Miller came into the yard to get the chicken and Ruger was doing what any German Shepard would do natural animal instinct kicks in to protect his yard and possibly a meal. And Mr Miller said he felt threatened and got a bat and beat this dogs head in. I am trying to understand why this man only has a misdemeanor. And not a felony. He literally beat this dog over and over causing it to suffer and the family had to put their baby down due to him suffering. I cannot fathom their pain and to think this man is getting a slap on the wrist. So I ask people to contact Butler county sheriff's department and ask for justice for Ruger. Dogs only want love and a best friend this man has every opportunity to go another route and knock at the family's door and ask them to help him. But he chose to murder a dog.
