Tell the Indian Government to Enforce Animal Protection Laws!

Thousands of elephants in India are mistreated by their owners, who beat them and exploit them for money. Recently in Mumbai, a 54-year-old obese elephant, Bijlee, was forced to beg on the street as her owners ignored her injuries. She was found lying in pain with maggot-infested wounds. Tragically, she has passed away as a result of her abuse.

Inspired by Bijlee's plight, residents have begun to complain to animal rights organizations about the mistreatment of other elephants. Unfortunately, policing of India's strong animal rights laws has been lax. In one case a politician even tried to threaten a group for reporting their neighbor's daily beating of elephants.

Abusing elephants is cruel and most of the citizens of India condemn this abuse. Please sign the petition to tell the Indian government to enforce animal protection laws!

To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing to implore you to enforce animal welfare laws in India.

India has strong animal welfare laws, but they're not being enforced. Bijlee died after years of abuse. We can't let other elephants suffer the same fate when laws exist to protect them!
