Demand Greyhound Racing Stewards who Covered-Up the Deaths of Dogs are Held Accountable

An inquiry into greyhound racing has heard greyhound deaths and injuries were left out of stewards' reports because racing authorities "didn't want to stir up the greenies", according to a report on Skynews.com.au

Evidence presented before the special commission of inquiry into NSW greyhound racing has alleged the deaths of 133 greyhounds were not reported by stewards over the past year.

In addition, injuries also were alleged to have not been unreported, which meant the public were not informed about the treatment of the dogs.

The news report stated: "A former on-track vet for Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW), Gregory Bryant, told the inquiry he euthanised dogs at the track and noted injuries but stewards deliberately left any mention of deaths or injuries out of their reports.

"I was given an explanation to the effect of because they didn't want to stir up the greenies or give the greenies anything to complain about," Dr Bryant told the commission.

Greyhound dogs deserve to be treated humanely. Will you join me in demanding that greyhound racing stewards who covered-up the deaths of dogs are held accountable through the appropriate judicial channels dealing with animal welfare?
