A little fish known as the Kentucky Darter has been prevalent in various waters and sites from 74 areas down to only 36 due to a project of mountaintop-removal coal mining expansion. The Darter is in danger of becoming extinct. The Kentucky Darter has been sacrificed to the Big Coal project. Years of coal mining has devastated the regions where the Darter habitats, polluted the waters and streams that is home to fish, crawfish, mussels and turtles. These unprotected waters used to hold the same beauty as the coral reefs and without our help are in danger, especially the Darter that finds its only home in Kentucky.
We are urged to ask for support of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Services for support for the Kentucky arrow darter and its habitat by ensuring its protection on the Endangered Species Act.
