A Tiny Deaf, Blind Dog Got Lost. A Cop Shot It Dead Instead of Helping.

Teddy the little Shih Tzu was out in his owner's fenced-in yard one day when the tiny dog escaped and wandered onto a neighbor's yard. Deaf and blind, Teddy didn't know how to find his way back home by himself. So the neighbors in this small Missouri town called the police to ask for their assistance in reuniting this lost dog with his person.

That day ended with Teddy's death.

Footage from the responding officer's body cam shows the cop running around after the dog trying to catch him for multiple minutes. Finally, he appears to give up and simply shoots the dog dead.

Both the cop and the city's leaders defended the shooting of this innocent dog, saying the officer was following protocol. Teddy's killer is trying to rewrite history, claiming he thought the deaf, blind dog was a stray with rabies. He even stated in an affidavit that it was supposedly his responsibility to "destroy an animal" in such a situation.

Even worse, the city promised it would conduct an investigation - but so far, it doesn't appear any investigation has occurred or even begun.

Teddy's owner is absolutely heartbroken. He adored his sweet five-year-old companion animal. Meanwhile, the cop was awarded $16,000 as part of his suspension deal to leave the force and take a new job elsewhere. This is shocking and indefensible.

Sign the petition to finally demand an independent investigation of both the shooting, and the city's defense of it! Teddy deserves justice!
