Duke of Edinburgh funding dropped by Leeds City Council needs reversal of policy

LEEDS CITY COUNCIL who proclaim to represent the city of the child have decided in their wisdom to stop their blanket funding of the DofE site payment. They were paying around £5k i believe and asking £300 from each school. Now they have cut this each school has to go through assessment / induction and oay £1200 per year !! Many schools are therefore pulling the plug on this most beneficial award. Each participant pays £16 also, so the cost is just too great to pass on as most schools only operate with around 20 participants.
The decision by Leeds Council is economically unsound and more importantly simply limiting oppotunuties for wider development of our cities children.
