Concrete Renovation of the Glenn Hart Memorial Skatepark

The Glenn Hart Memorial Skatepark in Meredith, NH was built in 2003, honoring Glenn Hart, former co-owner of Hart's Turkey Farm. Glenn was a community leader and advocate for youth recreation. The skatepark is made of wood and sheet metal, placed on pavement. Over the years the facility has undergone irreparable dilapidation—similar to the decay the Laconia skatepark suffered, which is now closed. So far, without any assistance from the town of Meredith, we've raised $33,000. However, a concrete skatepark is a costly affair. Please sign our petition to show the town of Meredith that you support renovating the Glenn Hart Memorial Skatepark in concrete so our youth won't lose another precious recreational outlet.

The reason for this petition is that the town of Meredith has categorically refused to accept using municipal money for a concrete skatepark. They have attempted some quick-fix repairs at the facility. In an attempt to remedy the skatepark's pavement they covered the surface with rubber sealant. This "solution" has created more hazards. The cracks are now hard to see, and the soft rubber filling swallows wheels and leaves a black grime on shoes and skateboards. The town has told me their long-term plan for the skatepark would be to sand blast the ramps and repaint them. This would be costly. Why spend so much money on 15-year old ramps, which sit on unskateable pavement? Especially when there is already a successful effort to rebuild in concrete. Signing this petition would show the town of Meredith that you support the sensible option of building a skatepark that would last.
