CHOICE. lower the age of smear testing and stop doctors refusing a test

We have found horrific stories of women who have been refused a simple test multiple times, by doctors, that could have saved their lives. A smear test is to test for cervical cancer, it can be taken with out refusal at the age of 25.According to Cancer Research UK, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women under the age of 35. Around 970 women died from cervical cancer in 2011 in the UK(under 35), and 35% of those women were under 25.

We understand there are good petitions out there, such as "Sophie's choice", who want to lower the age of smear testing to 16. We want to make it clear that the fault lies with the refusal of testing. A women and a mother, Jess Evans who died of cancer aged just 22, was refused a test nine times in two months. Another girl, Sophie Jones, who died aged 19 in terrible pain, was also refused testing.

We want this to change, we don't want a serious illness to be overlooked by doctors. we don't want their fate to be in someone else's hands.
