Each spring, the St. Paul Osman Shrine Circus performs at the Lee and Rose Warner Coliseum at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA. It is the longest continuously running Shrine Circus in America. On their website, they call themselves "one of America's national treasures". I wouldn't consider an organization that uses and exploits wild animals for entertainment a "national treasure". I also do not think that this form of "entertainment" is appropriate to support children's hospitals. This kind of "entertainment" is sending the wrong kind of message to children that using and abusing wild animals to entertain you is fun and okay. The animals used in circuses are endangered and their populations in the wild are decreasing. Young children may not know or do not see how circus animals are treated behind the scenes. It is not okay and it is time for the city of St. Paul to join other cities, states, and countries that ban this form of entertainment.
Please sign to ask Mayor Melvin Carter and the City Council to ban circuses that use wild animals in the city of St. Paul, Minnesota.
