According to Wednesday's publication of the Sierra Star , a 39-year-old woman from Oakhurst, Calif., has been convicted of felony cruelty to animals for severely beating a young puppy last August.
Jannice Aguilar was convicted last week at the Sierra Division of the Madera Superior Court at Bass Lake.
Aguilar faced felony cruelty charges after a witness observed her repeatedly punching a puppy in the face. The beating was so severe that the puppy's eye became dislocated from its socket.
According to SF Weekly, the eight-week-old Labrador retriever puppy was eventually humanely euthanized as a result of the grievous injuries.
After being arrested, Aguilar tried to blame the puppy's injuries on an attack by a pit bull.
Aguilar will be sentenced for her crime on April 9.
