Stop The Discrimination and Bring Winter Daisy Home!
On February 12, 2017 Winter Daisy's father murdered and later dismembered her mother Ashley Mead in Boulder Colorado. On February 16th, 2017 the child was found with her father outside Tulsa Oklahoma. At this time Daisy was taken into protective custody and placed in foster care. The child's grandparents are still fighting the system over a year later to bring her home. Reunification with biological grandparents is appropriate in this situation but is being withheld due to the maternal grandfather, Ed Mead, being a single grandfather and the maternal grandmother, Claudia Bunce, because she has a disability and is bound to a wheel chair. Claudia's disability doesn't in any way make her incapable of raising Daisy. Claudia raised Daisy's mother without incident. Both maternal and paternal grandparents love this child deeply and want this child out of the foster care system. Please pray about supporting this family and joining with us to take a stand against the discrimination keeping this little girl hostage. This family has been through enough! Let them heal together.
Denying a wheel chair bound or single grandparent the right to raise their grandchild sets a dangerous precedent for grandparents with disabilities and punishes individuals for being single. It diminishes their God given role as grandparents and undermines the laws against such discrimination. They are being traumatized by the system. Is it not enough that their daughter was violently taken from them? Please sign and share this petition before the custody hearing in Warren, Pennsylvania on September 19-21 to DEMAND WINTER DAISY be returned home to her biological grandparents!
