Travel Health Care Changes

ravel Health Care Coverage. Even if you have never had the condition before if you experience a health issue while you are travelling you are not covered for a re-occurance of that issue as you make your way home.
In my own case for example I have never taken prescription medication in my 67 years and had never filed a claim for health benefits. Recently the second day after arriving in Arizona after a 4 day drive I suffered a mild stroke that had no lasting effect. While my insurance company covered my stay in the hospital which was a couple of days. I was told that as soon as I was released I would not be covered if there was a re-occurance. The choice was either to stay and take a chance that I would not have a re-occurance or emmidately head home. While the insurance company offered to fly us home and transport our car they didn't know for sure how many days it would take to make those arrangements. Since our car was loaded with luggage and other items as we had anticipated a two month stay not a 2 day stay, it was decided we would drive home.
I feel that these insurance companies (as apparently they all have this same out clause) should be required to cover medical expenses on the way home if the same issue should arrise by pane or a reasonable time period by car. If by car is deemed excessive the customer should at least be covered by plane from the time he is discharged till he is back in Canada.
I feel this is a important issue and hope all travelers who use travel insurance will sign this petition and sent it to their Member of Parliament and the Prime Ministers office and demand action be taken.
