The Diversity Council seeks your voice No Place for Hate: SEMN Stands

THE UNDERSIGNED HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE AND DECLARE:

We come from different backgrounds, different world views, and different political persuasions,

But all of us, together, denounce white supremacy, white nationalism, and Nazi principles of hatred like those espoused recently in Charlottesville VA.

We condemn the aggression and violence incited by the hatred.

We assert that this hatred and behavior will not be tolerated in Rochester and its neighboring communities.

We are a region that rejects racism, discrimination, bigotry, and violence. We will not perpetuate them nor allow them to come into or exist unchallenged in our midst.

We commit, as individuals, organizations, and community,
To act against racism and bigotry
• in concert with those who have suffered their effects;
• with integrity, compassion, and unified strength;
• to realize deep and lasting cultural and systemic change.

We believe that "the time is now to embrace diversity as an asset...and commit to a community in which everyone-- individuals, children, youth, elders, and families representing every facet of human difference—can participate and prosper."
