NOW! Helping women with long term COVID!

    A growing number of COVID-19 patients have been battling for months with ongoing health problems due to the infection -- also known as long-term COVID. Preliminary research suggests that about 10 percent of all infected people are affected.
    Long-term COVID can affect anyone -- including young, healthy people who don't fit into any known risk groups. According to preliminary research, 45% of those affected were unable to work full-time after more than 6 months, and 22% were unable to work. And women are "significantly" more likely than men to develop long-term COVID. The researchers said they found that women were more likely than men to suffer from long-term COVID and were also more prone to ear, nose, throat, gastrointestinal, neurological, skin, emotional and rheumatological problems.
    We are now asking the U.S. Departments of Labor, Justice, and Health and Human Services to intervene urgently:
    1. Thoroughly investigate the ongoing impact of long-term COVID on women across America;
    2. Publicly recognize long-term COVID as a disability, so women are protected from discrimination in the workplace and have a legal right to make reasonable adjustments, such as longer breaks and flexible working hours;
    3. Ensure women's right to compensation, so any woman who contracts long-term COVID as a result of her work can be properly compensated for lost earnings and injuries.

    In its analysis, the Brookings Institution found that as many as 4 million people in the United States are unable to work due to long-term COVID, and 1 in 20 people with long-term COVID-19 infection are forced to lose their jobs. This is unacceptable!
