Our School, Our Voice: Retain Eastin’s Leadership Team

    To Whom It May Concern,

    It has come to the Eastin Family Community's attention that Mr. Harris and Mrs. Viscia-King are under consideration to be removed from their current position for the upcoming school year. This is deeply concerning to the Eastin parents and we are taken aback.

    The reason stated was due to Mr. Harris and Mrs. Viscia-King being "not a good fit" simply does not reflect the experience and sentiment that many Eastin families seem to have for these individuals.

    There are several factors in which many Eastin parents believe that Mr. Harris and Mrs. Viscia-King are a great fit for our school community, below are just a few which we feel strongly about:

    They are both highly involved in school events;
    Both communicate with clear intentions and keep families informed;
    Highly involved in community events, strengthening school-community connections;
    Foster positive, supportive, and inclusive school environment.

    The abrupt change to administration is quite disruptive not only to Eastin's community but to the kids themselves. Our school has had no less than three principals in the past four years, which is a high turnover for that position. This abrupt change will disrupt academics, school culture, and student well-being. Not to mention, this will leave the students feeling as if they are left with inconsistent administrative support.

    Respectfully, we implore the School Board and Superintendent to be transparent to their decision in stating that Mr. Harris and Mrs. Viscia-King is "not a good fit" and therefore decided to inform them that they will no longer be coming back in the upcoming school year. In addition, we strongly oppose of this preliminary decision and we, as the school community, would like to petition for its reversal. To consider the feedback and the positive interaction that we have had with Mr. Harris and Mrs. Viscia-King as both parents and students alike.

    Delaine Eastin's students, parents, and community as a whole deserves a stable leadership and it's essential for the success of our children and the school community.

    By signing this petition, we ask that you give us transparency and let the parents' feedback and sentiment be heard and taken into consideration in reversing the School Board's decision to not have Mr. Harris and Mrs. Viscia-King continue with their amazing role with Delaine Eastin.
