I propose an international day of The Universe (The day of the stars) on which every city and person living in a city would reduce their light emissions to a bare minimum so that we can gaze at the stars together, wondering about the origins of the universe, our common existence on this planet, and hopefully realize that we live under the same roof no matter who we are in our current everchanging societal structure.
In addition, we would cut down on our electricity bill and save the world a bunch of money that can be distributed to the ones in need. You can think of it as a world wide charity event to help the hungry and homeless all over the world just by "letting the stars shine on that night". No cost to anyone...
Most of all I believe, that a day such as this, would bring us closer together in terms of how we should stand together as a human race, and enable us to move past our differences and closer to our hearts. It is about love and respect to all life and the origins of life it self.
