Signatures for Petition to File As an Independent

I am running for representative of the 37th district of Mississippi. I am not running under any political party. So, to run as an independent I need to get signatures from registered voters. I have felt for a long time that I need to take action and make a difference rather than only taking to social media and expressing my opinion and frustration there and that being the end of it. We are a state full of smart, open minded, and caring people who deserve to be represented in a way that will not only improve the quality of life for us, but more importantly for the generations after us! We have a lot in front of us that needs to have an "average Joe" able to have a voice for all of the other average Mississippians! I have been on both sides of the law at one time long ago. I have been wealthy, and I have been broke. I have lived with a Black American and a Hispanic American. I have the ability to see things from the prospective of multiple point of views. One of the main problems in our government is that older white privileged men get elected and stick to the same stuff they have been doing for decades. They've never had a utility turned off and have to explain to a loved one as to why it has to stay off for a couple of days. I've seen the struggle and as God as my witness I will die at that state capital building fighting for each and every person that I may have the honor of representing!

Just a quick overview of where I stand on some issues our state is facing now: The flag isn't that important! It being taken down does not mean anyone is taking anyone's heritage away! Businesses were saying they were going to leave and it was preventing new businesses from coming in! Would you rather have a flag that shouldn't have your allegiance anyway or would you prefer new and better jobs decide to come into our wonderful state? The answer is obvious. Now, about or education system. It is just about as simple as can be!We have to put more money into our teacher's pockets!! We have to give them the tools they need to make sure each and every student leaves each day with a mind full of knowledge and a heart full of love. If we can not pay our teachers a competitive salary then the quality of teacher will go down more and more.  They are leaving our state for better paying jobs. We have people that want to come home to Mississippi and work, but it doesn't make sense financially, yet. Finally, Our criminal justice system needs to be whitewashed and started from the ground up to begin a more progressive and rehabilitation platform and get away from just tossing human beings into a cell. If you produce a better inmate then in return you will get a better citizen when they return to the free world. As a society we refuse to allow anyone to be defined by their race, gender, sexual orentation or anything like that. But, we are so quick to define a person by a mistake they made if they're a felon. Non-violent offenders should have other options than jail and/or prison time. Sure, if they are a safety concern to society then they need to be locked up. But, I know for a fact that there is a man in county jail as I type this for speeding, possession of paraphernalia and driving under suspended license. He has been there 2 months and will likely have to sit there until he is able to go to court which will likely be November! That just can't be the way things are done! County jails are lined with the poor souls that don't have enough saved to pay a lawyer or to bond out. I'm sick and tired of seeing a state that I love so much be at the bottom of so many lists. The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something! So, here's me doing something! I urge you to follow the state house and senate bills! Also, hold your representative accountable! I promise that I will be eager and willing to work with any of my colleges regardless of political party, race, sex, or religious beliefs! I believe a representative who is willing to work with others and even compromise with the opposing side is more important than having any (R) or (D) behind my name! . If you have any questions or want to know where I stand on any of the current House Bills that have passed through legislation or soon will be please do not hesitate to ask!

Pretty good news. State Senator Younger, who is the senator for district 37, has asked me to give him a call tomorrow (Friday July 19) to speak with him. He has not made an endorsement for the vacant seat that I am running for. If I could get that then this would change from a “long shot” to a “holy crap I have a good chance of winning this!”

I have to have at least 50 signatures to have my name on the ballot. I want to have 50 by the end of the day! Be awesome and share this and tell everyone you know about it!
