Bryan Fischer, who is involved with the American Family Association, a conservative Christian organization, recently said that the Democratic Party is trying to make African Americans into "slaves" and "drug-addled addicts" with welfare benefits.
He said that the Democrats want Americans to be dependent on the government like slaves were on their masters before the Civil War. He also said that the "only explanation" for the Democrats keeping the African American community on the "Democratic plantation" was that the Democrats "promise more goodies" and have them addicted to welfare benefits.
According to Census Bureau data from Time magazine, in 2001, 61% of the people on welfare were white.
Please tell Bryan Fischer that this is racist and wrong!
Dear Bryan Fischer,
I am writing to you today concerning comments you made about addiction, the Democratic party, slavery, and the African American community.
You compared the Democratic Party to slave owners, saying that the party has gotten African Americans addicted to welfare benefits and made them dependent on the government like slaves were on their masters before the Civil War.
The majority of people on welfare are actually white. This is extremely racist and wrong.
