Ban Harmful BPA and BPA-Free Chemicals Now

When a growing number of studies linked BPA to infertility and other reproductive risks, companies changed their marketing and went the "BPA-free" route. Behind the scenes, they just swapped BPA for another chemical, BPS. And new research on zebrafish from UCLA suggests that "BPS is not harmless." In fact, BPS mimics many of the problems associated with BPA: accelerating embryonic development resulting in premature births and interrupting the reproductive system.

The working hypothesis is that these chemicals could be playing a role in the recent increase of premature human births and early puberty in the United States. For instance, 500,000 American babies (or 1 in 8) are born prematurely and boys and girls are starting puberty as young as six. 

In more ways than one, BPS, or BPA-free, isn't harmless. The marketing doesn't need to change again -- the laws need to change. Sign and share this petition if you want chemicals like BPA and BPS banned once and for all.
