Children as young as eight years old are being forced into child prostitution in Brazil. According to a report by the Jubilee Campaign, Brazil has the second highest rate of child prostitution in the world and the highest rate in Latin America. It is estimated that there are 500,000 child prostitutes in Brazil.

The Jubilee Campaign has identified the major child prostitution centres as well as the main areas in which children are trafficked as sex slaves. The Amazon basin is known as a major area where children are trafficked for prostitution. Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo have approximately 150,000 child prostitutes while north-eastern cities such as Fortaleza, Salvador and Recife are main destinations for foreign sex tourism as these cities offer child sex slaves as young as eight years old.

Action against child sex slavery has been deterred as police stations are paid off by sex traffickers to look the other way. Another deterrent is that many officials in government positions have been found to be directly involved in the sexual exploitation of children. This has caused many judges and people in positions of power to stop any investigations into child prostitution.

Tell Brazil that this is completely unacceptable and utterly disgusting. Their inaction is aiding child traffickers and is allowing innocent children to be forced into sex slavery.
