Keep Downeast Correctional Facility Open

    We, the undersigned support LD 1704, a bill making its way through the Maine Legislature, that will keep the Downeast Correctional Facility open through June 30, 2019. LD 1704, sponsored by State Rep. Will Tuell (R-East Machias) also calls upon policymakers to develop a long term plan for the facility, and stipulates that the prison can not be closed without the consent of the Legislature.
