The Website the Synagogue Shooter Used to Spew Hate Is Back Online

Most people had never heard of Gab before October 27th, 2018. But that day changed everything. That was when, 46-year-old Robert Bowers — a white supremacist — walked into the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with an AR-15 and three handguns, and killed 11 worshipers.

Bowers, along with other white nationalists like Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos and Richard Spencer, found a safe haven for their sick brand of hate on an obscure Twitter-like platform known as Gab. As explained by Wikipedia, the social media platform "allows its users to read and write multimedia messages of up to 300 characters, called 'gabs.'"

But if you thought Twitter was a cesspool, then Gab is a swampland. Gab.com claims to be the domain for Free Speech, where anything goes and anyone is welcome. They have little to no moderation and have often come under fire for allowing their members to share blatantly racist and violent content with no consequences.

It was on Gab that Robert Bowers left his final ominous lasting message:

"HIAS likes to bring invaders in that kill our people," — referring to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. "I can't sit by and watch my people get slaughtered. Screw your optics, I'm going in."

Hours later, he would take nearly a dozen lives. Since the tragedy, Gab deleted his account, but it wasn't fast enough to avoid the public wrath and scrutiny. Overnight, companies like GoDaddy.com, PayPal and Joyent stopped providing their services, and Gab was taken offline and forced into the gutters of obscurity where it belonged.

Unfortunately, it didn't stay there. Last Sunday, the unrepentant company announced that they were back online after Epik.com had agreed to replace GoDaddy as their domain provider.

"This is only the beginning. May God have mercy on you for what you people have done this past week."

Epik CEO Robert Monster said he believed Gab would be "vigilant" in moderating their users. But within minutes of Gab's reappearance online, dozens of hate-filled "gabs" inundated the site. One of the first posts was made by Christopher Cantwell (AKA "The Crying Nazi") who taunted the Jewish community with his gab: "Hey Jews! We're back on Gab now."

So much for hoping Gab has changed. If Epik wants to be taken seriously by the rest of the business community and the public at large, they should not hitch their wagon to a caravan of crazed hatemongers. Gab, is a platform based on hate, for people who want to wipe our nation clean of all diversity.

Tell Epik.com to follow the lead of other tech giants and cut ties with Gab. Sign the petition and let's make sure Gab goes dark for good.
