A decade ago something called the Miracle Mineral Solution (or MMS) became marginally popular among the alternative health crowd. MMS promised to cure a wide range of illnesses, including AIDS, hepatitis, the common cold and even autism.
MMS, or the “CD cure” (“CD” standing for chlorine dioxide) as it’s better known as today, has mostly disappeared from the alternative medicine scene – save for those who are parents of autistic children.
Chlorine dioxide is basically the same as industrial-grade bleach. It is used to clean wastewater and bleach paper white – ingesting it can cause a range of health problems from nausea and dehydration and can even be fatal.
Even still, Rivera continues to the “CD cure,” encouraging people poison their children. One of her most effective tools is social media, in particular, Facebook. A group on Facebook known as “CD Autism” currently has more than 8,500 members.
This group’s purpose is little more than the promotion of child abuse. Because of this, Facebook must take immediate action to shut the group down and shut down any others should they appear.
