For several decades the Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas has recognized outstanding educators by renaming schools in their honor. The Centreville Primary School celebrated its 50th anniversary on September 11the, 2017. The alumni of the institution proposed that the school be renamed in honor of one of its finest educators.
In 1968 Mrs. Judith P. Thompson became Principal of Centreville Primary School; she served as Principal for thirty years and has made a tremendous impact in the community by her exceptional leadership.
Judith Thompson epitomizes the consummate educator who served with distinction, having a loving, caring and dedicated spirit. She made Centreville Primary a School "a home away from home" for her students. Students from the school excelled in many areas, both academically and technically and are making positive strives in building The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
The Alumni are therefore requesting that the school be renamed in honor of Mrs. Judith P. Thompson, to commemorate the invaluable contributions she has made to the school and the development of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
The phrase "give me my flowers while I can smell them" is most fitting at this time. To bestow such an honor upon Mrs. Thompson at this time would give witness to our appreciation of her genuine passion and dedication to public service.
