Protect Free Speech on the Internet
The Federal Communication Commission's net neutrality rule is pretty weak, but it's still vital to protecting equality and free speech on the internet. Now, the House of Representatives is pushing a new measure that would strip the FCC of this meager authority to enforce net neutrally, essentially ceding control of internet freedoms to cable and phone companies.
As demonstrated in the revolutions sweeping the Middle East, free speech on the internet is incredibly powerful and an important check on governmental and corporate power. The United States talks about promoting free and open speech abroad, but Congress must protect it at home too.
Corporations are liable to their shareholders -- not the American people or the public interest. They are not the people we should entrust with protecting our free speech online.
Tell the Senate to oppose the House's "Resolution of Disapproval" and protect free speech online.
Dear [Decision Maker],
I am writing today to urge you to oppose the"Resolution of Disapproval" passed by the House of Representatives that limits the Federal Communication Commission's ability to protect free speech online.

Today, the internet is one of the most important and egalitarian platforms for Americans to exercise their free speech rights. If this resolution passes and the FCC loses its ability to preserve net neutrality, it would cede my free speech rights to telecommunications companies.
Corporations are liable to shareholders -- not the American people at large or the public interest. These are not the entities who should be protecting one of the most central American rights.
Thank you for you time.
