This means we can use our plentiful sunshine to help lower energy bills, clean the air that we breathe, and create local jobs. Florida is now the nation's second largest solar job creator, with more than 10,350 Floridians already working to build a brighter, more resilient energy system. Combined with battery storage and other local clean technologies, solar can also make our families and communities more resilient in the face of hurricanes and extreme weather -- and keep the power on for first responders.
But big utilities and polluting corporations are working to stand between Floridians like you and the solar power you want. Our state leaders must do more to protect solar rights and make clean energy an affordable option for all Floridians.

I think it's important for lawmakers like you to understand how much your constituents support solar, regardless of their political affiliation. A recent poll of likely Florida voters from Conservatives for Clean Energy found that:
* 77% think there should be more emphasis on solar, the highest of any energy source polled. That includes majorities of Republicans (58%) and Independents (85%).
* 85% think it is important to minimize red tape that makes it difficult for consumers to go solar.
* 81% support net metering policies, which ensure customers receive full credit on their utility bills when they send power to the grid for the utility to resell.
* Over three-quarters say they are more likely to vote for a candidate who supports taking action to increase the development and use of clean energy.
