Republican Lawmakers Want to Replace Pride With Shame. We Won't Let Hate Win. Sign to Protect Pride Month!

It's finally Pride Month. This should be a time of joy, of laughter, of chosen family and people finally feeling safe enough to be themselves.

Instead, this year, some politicians are trying to turn Pride Month into something ugly.

In several states, Republican lawmakers are pushing "counterprogramming" to Pride Month -- announcing alternatives like "Nuclear Family Month," "Strong Families Month," and "Fidelity Month."

These months are described as celebrations of "homes led by a father and mother" and families made up of "one husband, one wife and any biological, adopted or fostered children."

But let's be honest about what this actually means.

These efforts send a painful message: that LGBTQ+ people and families somehow matter less. That queer people are "wrong." That only one kind of family deserves to be celebrated.

That is hateful, heartbreaking, and downright homophobic.

Sign the pledge to stand proudly with LGBTQ+ people and support Pride Month in the face of hate!

Families do not come in just one shape.

Some families have a mom and a dad. Some have two moms. Two dads. One parent. Grandparents raising grandkids. Foster parents. Chosen family. Friends who become family when no one else shows up.

Love makes a family -- not politics or cruel ideologies.

Pride Month exists because LGBTQ+ people were pushed into the shadows for far too long. For decades, queer people were bullied, arrested, fired, rejected by their families, and told they should hide who they are.

Pride began as courage.

It began as people saying: We deserve to exist. We deserve safety. We deserve love.

And now, in 2026, politicians are trying to send us backward.

Calling June "Nuclear Family Month" instead of Pride Month is not harmless. Declaring that families only count if they look one certain way is not "family values." It is exclusion and erasure.

This hurts real people -- LGBTQ+ kids wondering if they belong, parents trying to protect their queer children, and adults who fought for years just to live openly and honestly.

But hate does not get the final word.

Pride is bigger than politics. Bigger than fear. Bigger than cruelty.

Pride is about joy, community, and showing people they are loved exactly as they are.

Sign the pledge now to show your support for Pride Month -- and to stand with LGBTQ+ people against hate, shame, and erasure.
