Support Elaine's Pathway Out of Poverty

Can you imagine being trapped in an abusive relationship, because your partner controls all your finances?

This is why it took Elaine so many years to leave her husband. And when she did, she was left penniless. It was a terrifying time. Thankfully, Elaine found support and solace in the form of a drop-in women's group. It was here that she learned about EmpowerU, a financial literacy program funded by United Way of the Alberta Capital Region. It took a lot of hard work, but today, Elaine is a licensed financial professional, an active volunteer, and an empowered woman.
