Nearly Half a Million Deaths in a Single Year Have Been Linked to Chemicals in Our Plastic Food Packaging

It turns out our food packaging may be poisoning us. Toxic chemicals known as phthalates -- often called "everywhere chemicals" by researchers due to their prevalence -- have been leaching into our food and drinks, silently invading our bodies and causing devastating health effects.

And it's not just minor ailments -- these chemicals are literally killing us. A recent study linked phthalates to over 350,000 heart disease deaths in 2018 alone.

Sign the petition to tell the FDA to ban the use of harmful phthalates in our food packaging!

The evidence is alarming. Phthalates are chemicals that make plastic soft and flexible, and they're used extensively in food packaging. They're also used in lotions and shampoos to make fragrance last longer. They're endocrine disruptors, meaning they alter our hormones and have been linked to severe health problems including infertility, ADHD, and especially heart disease.

Shockingly, despite overwhelming evidence of harm, the FDA still permits nine different phthalates to be used in food packaging. Every meal could be increasing our risk of heart disease and even early death!

Why have corporations been allowed to poison us with dangerous chemicals for so long? Why hasn't the FDA stepped up to protect our health and safety?

Making matters even worse is the fact that wealthy countries like the United States export millions of pounds of plastic waste to poorer developing countries every year. Because plastic waste doesn't decompose, people in these countries are left exposed to these toxic chemicals at an alarming rate, leading to poor health outcomes globally! As is so often the case, countries that contribute the least to these crises are bearing the consequences the most.

Enough is enough. We must demand immediate action. Tell the FDA to ban phthalates in food packaging now. Our health, and the lives of countless others, depend on it! Sign the petition today!
