Stop Price Gouging on Canada's Internet

Canadian Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are looking ways to increase their bottom line. Their technique? Charging consumers a usage-based price for extremely limited Internet access, and then tacking on huge rates for consuming too much bandwidth - sometimes with as much as a 6000% markup! What's more, time and again ISPs have failed to reliably track how much Internet consumers actually use!

Open Internet advocates already achieved a huge victory after the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission ruled that giant ISPs can't force smaller wholesalers to use the same outrageous pricing scheme. High-profile politicians from both sides of the political spectrum have also rallied behind keeping Internet access at a fair price.

But that's not far enough. Canadian consumers pay far more for less Internet access than virtually any other developed nation. That's why we're calling on party leaders to take action on Internet pricing reform!

Urge Canada's party leaders to take action in the fight against big telecom companies' unfair Internet price gouging!
Dear [Party Leader]

Canada is one of the few countries in the developed world where usage-based Internet billing is the norm. This tactic is nothing more than a way for big telecommunications companies to increase their bottom line - sometimes by charging a markup of up to 6000%!

I respectfully ask that you to take action on reforming usage-based billing for Internet consumers.

Sincerely,
