*GJ Parks and Recreation (STARS) program are being subsidzed by our tax dollars to compete against our local small businesses!
*GJ Parks and Recreation (STARS) program use the school's, District 51, facilities, and other resources at no cost!
*The seasonal jobs that the GJ Parks and Recreation (STARS) program creates, take away full time work from teachers and early childhood educators.
*There is no need in Mesa county for additional childcare services!
*The GJ Parks and Recreation Department, should remain in their field of expertise, RECREATION!
*The GJ Parks and Recreation Department should stay out of the professional childcare industry!
*It is time to SUPPORT your local community and small businesses!
Dear Council Members & Director of GJ Parks and Recreation,
We, the private sector, childcare businesses and concerned citizens of Mesa county, petition the Grand Junction Parks and Recreation (STARS program) to no longer compete with the Private sector. We implore the city of Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Division, to come to an agreement with the aforementioned parties, in regards to the STARS (city of Grand Junction childcare program).
* The STARS program shall not be subsidzed by tax payer monies.
*The STARS program shall charge a fair market rate.
*The STARS program shall pay a fair market rate, to rent the facilities that host their programs (District 51 schools).
*The STARS program shall pay for transportation costs, field trips, swimming, etc, at the same rate that the Private industry is charged!
*The STARS program shall only supplement space according to the needs of the community!
Thank you for letting small businesses do, what they do best...CREATE JOBS!
