Tell the EU: Protect the rights of LGBT+ people in every country

Cristina and Mariama got married in France two years ago, after being together for thirteen years. Soon after their wedding, they moved to Bulgaria, a country they cherished for four years before moving their entire home to Sofia, the country's capital.

Mariama is a French national and her wife is Australian. Just like thousands of couples who move from one EU country to another every year, they were sure the same freedom of movement laws would apply to them.

But Bulgarian authorities denied Cristina the right to stay in the country – just because they're two women in a relationship and same-sex marriage is not allowed in the country.

LGBT+ families deserve to be treated equally, no matter where in the EU they choose to live.

Sign the petition and ask EU institutions to protect the rights of same-sex couples and LGBT+ families.

TO: Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, Mr. Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, Mr. Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament

Same-sex couples and LGBT+ families who decide to live in countries like Bulgaria don't have any form of legal recognition of their families.

We urge you to make sure same-sex families are respected and treated equally in all EU member countries.
