Tell State Senators: Stand up for clean drinking water!

Last summer, news broke that Chemours, a chemical company, had been polluting the Cape Fear River for years with a little-known chemical called GenX. Since then a number of other chemical contaminants have also been found in other NC waterways.

Even more unsettling, after years of budget cuts, our state environmental and public health agencies do not have the adequate resources needed to manage this growing chemical dumping problem.

Tell your state Senators to stand up for clean drinking water by supporting legislation that properly funds North Carolina's state health and environmental agencies.

Dear Decision-Maker,

I'm very concerned about GenX and other contamination problems in North Carolina waterways. The state Senate must support legislation that provides meaningful funding to the Department of Environmental Quality and the Department of Health and Human Services in order to detect and manage these chemical contamination problems across the state.

Years of budget cuts have hampered state agencies' ability to appropriately respond to new threats to clean water and air.

Please urge Senate leadership to provide needed funding to our state agencies. We shouldn't have to worry about the safety of our drinking water.
