Bring Democracy to Burma!

Burma has a notorious reputation for violating human rights. It is a country controlled by implementing fear in the minds of citizens; a fear so strong that it would prevent anyone from going against the government. For years, Burmese troops used rape and other forms of torture to control villages that opposed the government.

Luckily, Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and pro-democracy activist, is now running as an opposition leader to current Burma president Thein Sein. She has been working tirelessly to bring change to Burma. The Burma military junta even tried to deter her efforts by sentencing her to 18 months of house arrest.

Reform is coming at an extremely slow pace and most institutions are still dominated by the government. It is clear that Aung San Suu Kyi will face a huge amount of opposition and needs as much support as possible. Bring democracy to Burma and support Aung San Suu Kyi in her bid for office!
