Stop Greedy Electronics Industry from Charging too much for High Definition Equipment

The Electronics Industry is hurting itself by charging too much for HD set-top-boxes and HD TVs. The public will not buy into HD unless they stop being greedy and lower the prices.
Since the FCC has mandated that all broadcast stations must be HD-compliant no later than 2006, the broadcast industry has worked toward being fully digital in time. However, the electronics industry has seen a "green" opportunity to milk as much money as they can from the public until they absolutely have to be in compliance.
Right now, the only people who can afford High Definition TV are those with a LOT of disposable income. As of now, it will cost at least 3-4 thousand dollars to get High-Definition (that's 2-5 thousand dollars for the TV, 4-7 hundred dollars for the set-top-box, and several hundred dollars for the satellite or cable access). This HD equipment is not expensive for the companies to make but they are charging a ridiculous amount for their boxes because they know they may soon have to be in compliance. Until then, they can charge as much as they want. The general public will not spring for that much money just to get a good TV picture (although it is awesome to see). If the greedy electronics companies want to see HD take off and become the norm for all of us, they have to lower the prices to make HD more accessible.
