Destroy The New Timetable

Blue Coat C of E School has always been a place where students can simply learn without complex systems which supposedly benefit the pupils.

In the past, any necessary changes to the school timetable have been slight changes which were generally welcomed by the student body.

However, sometimes changes prevent our school from running efficiently. These changes potentially disrupt pupils, hindering their learning process.

A school's main purpose is to educate young minds, is it not? Then why should they put in place a system which has no detectable benefits, and many obvious drawbacks?

These drawbacks include:

  •   Pupils being unable to meet up with their forms before lessons begin. At Blue Coat School, we pride ourselves on the fact that the students are sociable and friendly. This system will only cripple the social aspects of our school.

  •   Poor learning Efficiency - caused by badly spaced breaks. In the new timetable, there will be a 25 minute period of time after Period 3 in which there will be a Tutor Period or Assembly. These 'activities' do not involve learning, and are therefore effectively breaks, or resting times.
The problem with a 25 minute break is that it is IMMEDIATELY before a 1 hour lunch break! This gives pupils a huge one and a half hour break in the middle of the day, which is entirely unnecessary.

  •   Increased Lateness. The new system is supposedly designed to decrease lateness, but it will have the exact opposite effect. Previously pupils were not missing lessons, but perhaps missing small sections of a (comparatively) unimportant Registration time.
If a pupil arrives late under the new regime, they will be missing vital lesson time. If a pupil was late in the previous system, they would usually miss minimal amounts of precious lesson time, which is what truly matters.

  • There are multiple other vast drawbacks to the new system, which have not been listed to save reading time.

From the above list, it is perfectly clear that the new system has no perceivable benefits, and numerous gaping flaws.
