This petition is designed to put pressure on the Australian government to force it to assist Julian Assange with the current circumstances related to WikiLeaks releasing sensitive information, the related sex charges and, the politically motivated attacks on him as an individual.
By collecting signatures on a petition we hope to demonstrate to the Australian government the large amount of support Julian Assange has and to show that people don't believe the political spin being used to try and discredit Julian Assange and justify the governments inaction.
Australian people expect the Australian government to support its citizens and we want the government to know it.

WikiLeaks founder and editor-in-chief Julian Assange needs help.
He is an Australian citizen and he needs and is entitled to, the support of his home country.
We call on the Australian Government and the Prime Minister to:
- Provide full consular support to Julian Assange as would be afforded any Australian citizen including legal assistance;
- Speak out against the incorrect assertion by individuals and the media that Julian Assange has committed an offence by publishing leaked sensitive information when in fact no offence has been committed;
- Be proactive in publically supporting Julian Assange and prevent a politically motivated persecution of an, as yet, innocent Australian citizen in a foreign country;
- Assist Julian Assange defend the right to free speech.
