I am asuming that the general public is not aware of the plight of Big Black pound dogs. Black labs or lab mixes are euthanized at a horrifying rate at many pounds & shelters because people pass them up for lighter colored dogs who appear "less intimidating". The shelter worker where I got My Dg Fritz. (& later because I didn't beleive her the vet) Said that they can only asume big black dogs scary campfire stories & evoke horror movie fears. But both said the why really wasn't the issue. The fact is it is a Human syndrome...the dog cannot change it's color...you can change your veiws on the big black dog. Think about folklores & the big black dog. The hounds fo the baskervilles, the hounds of hell all big black dogs. Black labs tend to be extremly energetic requiring alot of exercise...this is considered a draw back to many so the "Black lab" label is extremely damageing to the individual dog.
