It is a fact that illegal immigrants under the age of 18 have the right to public education. Public education in our great country is powered purely by taxpayer's dollars, and is handled on the state level on a fixed budget. This budget is balanced by the input of taxpayers within the state, and the right to such privileges is limited to residents of the state. Providing public education to illegal immigrants costs taxpayers an average of 8,000 dollars per year. Refusing the right to public education to illegal immigrant children will save the public education system a significant amount of money in a time of financial burden throughout the country.
For clarification of the people that the proposition is targeted towards, this is only children that are illegal immigrants. This will not affect children that have legal status within this country. This will not affect their opportunities to a private education. This is not a punishment by any means. This has nothing to do with deportation, as the state level department of education is totally unrelated to the U.S. Border Patrol.
Reducing the number of students in the student population has many benefits that are immediately noticeable, as well as latent results that will surface over time. Student to teacher ratio will drop, providing a better opportunity for each student to receive the attention they might need. Congestion in schools will be reduced, reducing operational and transportation costs. And since the point of public education is provide to the children of U.S. taxpayers, less money will be thrown away to sources that have not contributed to the system financially.
It only makes sense that we shall no longer allow illegal immigrants to be publicly schooled. Taxpayers put in billions of dollars every year, and the least we can ask for is for our children to get the best education possible. This is strictly an economic issue, and will only affect the rights of public education to children that are illegal immigrants.
