Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Nebraska, New York & Rhode Island are known as At-Will states, meaning employers may terminate any employees at anytime without warning for any reason they choose. They may do so without giving the employees any reason for dismissal. This allows companies to terminate employees based on discrimination such as Sex, Age, Race, Sexual Orientation or even their religious or political beliefs. If an employee has performed their duties as required, then employers should be mandated to inform the employee as to the reason for their termination. It is 2016. At-Will states should no longer exist.
